MPMG Takes to The Stars with Academy Award Winner Mike Minkler and New Sci-Fi Epic Junior Crew



Hollywood, CA (May 25, 2011) -- Hollywood development house Moving Pictures Media Group announced the addition of three-time Oscar winner Michael Minkler as a partner and producer, with the expansion of MPMG’s schedule to eight new feature films set for 2012 theatrical release. ‘We look forward to Mike working with us as an integral part of our team, and increasing our presence in the Hollywood film industry – and beyond," said MPMG Producer Jean-Luc Martin.

In his 40-year film and television career, Mike’s sound engineering brought films like Star Wars, TRON, and The Excorcist to life, in collaboration with most of Hollywood’s elite directors. Mike received Academy Awards for Blackhawk Down, Chicago, and Dreamgirls, and a Career Achievement Award from the Cinema Audio Society, in recognition of his work spanning more than 200 Films. “This is very exciting me for me,” states Minkler, “MPMG has a formula for success I believe in.”

The latest addition to MPMG’s development slate is Junior Crew, a new science fiction epic adventure. Created by writer / director A.J. Wedding, a routine museum field trip by four tenacious teens goes awry, thrusting them into a secret, galactic war over Earth's artifacts and the powers they possess. “Growing up, I was a huge fan of Goonies and The Last Starfighter, and wanted to capture the same magic in Junior Crew,” states Wedding, whose film trailer just debuted on the AOF (Action On Film) Channel and NBC Late Night Los Angeles.

“A.J. developed his world with an adventure-rich storyline, crafted from the start for coinciding games, books, merchandising and sequels.” Junior Crew is being developed as one of the first MPMG releases filmed in digital 3D.

From the “Life Imitating Art” department, as Ray Ellingsen’s apocalyptic zombie feature film 100 Days of Death entered production, America’s CDC (Centers for Disease Control) launched is own Preparedness 101: Zombie Apocalypse on their Public Health Matters Blog, to answer the age-old question “How do I prepare for a zombie apocalypse?” Comments Ellingsen: “The CDC raises great questions, but you’ll have to wait ‘till next summer and see the film to get all the answers!”

Moving Pictures Media Group Launches Multimedia Rights Division

with New Zombie Thriller "100 Days of Death"

March 11, 2011 (Hollywood, CA) – No matter how many times you destroy them, they keep coming back for more – and movie audiences just can’t get enough. So when Hollywood development house Moving Pictures Media Group signed a six-film distribution deal, the first project greenlighted for production was the adaptation of Ray Ellingsen’s zombie novel, 100 Days of Death. Capitalizing on its expanding assets, MPMG also announced the launch of its Multimedia Rights division, to develop and license literary and graphic novel, interactive media, and computer game rights for each project.

While the "zombie genre" has matured quite a bit between George Romero’s 1968 b/w classic Night of the Living Dead and Frank Darabont’s 2011 splatter, gore, and pop-culture infused adaptation of The Walking Dead for AMC, each offers the insatiable challenge to viewers: what would you do to survive? MondoCult Magazine publisher and author, Brad Linaweaver, says of Ellingsen's novel, "100 Days of Death is a zombie novel for people who don't like zombie novels. The diary entries have the rushed and terminal quality of someone actually living through an apocalypse."

FilmProfit, an MPMG strategic partner with twenty years experience in film industry analysis, picked Ellingsen’s title as the first of the films green-lighted for production. Similar in theme to Richard Matheson’s I Am Legend and Alex Garland’s 28 Days Later, Producer Jean Luc Martin notes, "100 Days of Death is one the most action-oriented project we’ve seen, capitalizing on Ellingsen’s own experience as a veteran trainer of US Military specialists and renown martial arts instructor." "Survival is the theme," adds Linaweaver, "This novel is really about one hundred days of life."

Additional film projects by MPMG in development are Churchill Club, Dinosaur Girl, Lawman, Monsters, and Rogue. "All of the stories are not only engaging, but also hold commercial value to the degree that they will merit theatrical distribution," states Synergetic Distribution Partner René Leda. 100 Days of Death is presently scheduled for a Summer 2012 release; literary, graphic novel, and game rights are in negotiation.
